Creating Inclusive Access To Africa’s Impact Economy
Our Story
‘Huruma’ + ‘Bantfu’ is a combination of Swahili and SiSwati words meaning “Compassion” and “People”. In both composition and meaning, it encapsulates not only the values of our business but of our Co-Founders.
Huruma Bantfu was founded in 2016 by best friends, Mr Sandile Tshabalala and Ms Mbali Khumalo, who saw an opportunity to align their unique skills, experiences and drive to improve socio-economic conditions, and contribute to the creation of inclusive and sustainable corporate environments in Africa.
“Our work accelerates the transition towards Socio-Economic Impact: where Creativity and Entrepreneurship integrate to address the problems facing our African Societies”

Direct Initiatives Executed
The idea came about after the Co-Founders were asked to perform an evaluation of social impact initiatives being undertaken by one of the largest corporate entities in the continent. Despite their relative lack of experience at the time, they recognised that there was a clear ‘gap’ in the market, and that their business proposition held weight.
With this in mind, they spent the subsequent years developing their skill sets and building their experience in order to ensure the best possible outcomes for future clients. Thus, from those planted seeds grew a business specialising in collaborative innovation and human-centred solution building, among other initiatives, dedicated to driving corporate sustainability and equitable socio-economic development in Africa.
